Ash-I Walker’s passion for music began at age 10, performing in churches and at family events. His love for reggae was shaped by his father, who played icons such as Gregory Isaacs, Dennis Brown, John Holt, and Toots and the Maytals. Even as a child, he showed a clear connection to the music, especially when “Night Nurse” by Gregory Isaacs filled the room.

He attended Trinity Ville Primary School, where he successfully auditioned for the school choir and represented the institution at national festivals before graduating. After leaving rural life, he moved to Kingston and secured employment in the hospitality industry.

While catering an event at The Little Theatre, he was drawn to harmonies coming from a rehearsal room. Inside, a trio was performing “In the Still of the Night.” After inquiring about joining, he learned the group was seeking a fourth member for The Heartbreakers. He was welcomed into the lineup.

As a member of The Heartbreakers, Ash-I toured Jamaica, performing at corporate events and private functions. He also participated in The Little Theatre’s annual productions, combining singing with acting. The group later entered the Tastee Talent Contest, earning second place behind a rising young star.

After two years of performing together, the group parted ways to focus on individual careers. Ash-I later traveled to the United Kingdom to broaden his exposure and artistic development. He is currently working on multiple projects, including collaborations with local talent, an upcoming album, and live performances across the country.
